Spielbericht 05.08.2023 Playoffs Seahawks @ Bonn Capitals

First game of the playoffs had us on the road playing against Bonn. Majority of the team piled into a bus to go up Friday, so we were fresh for Saturday to play on the pristine main diamond of Bonn.

The opening 2 innings saw the pitchers Christopher Schmidt aka Schmiddy and Finn Keuper come out with control and throw strikes, with both teams playing quality defence.

The 3rd inning would see the bottom part of the lineup come up for the Seahawks starting with Larson in the 8 spot. Larson would lead off with a great at bat to draw a walk, henry follows up getting on base after trying to do his job and move the runner over, mike drew a walk to load the bases. With no one out bases loaded Nick Coy battled back from a pitchers count to put a ball into right field scoring Larson with a sac fly to get the Seahawks on the board.

Schmidt had settled into the game very nicely getting through 5 innings efficiently and not allowing the capitals to get comfortable in the batters box.

With 2 down in the top of the 6th it was time for the top order to get the job done Svole and Schmidt got us going with back to back singles before a costly error from Bonn saw Freddy reach base and a run score.

The 7th inning would see the Seahawks score their 3rd and final run with the bottom part of the lineup getting the job done again.

It was a tight game all day but the defensive came to play with every player having an input defensively.

Schmidt came to play throwing a complete game shut out with 5ks and only allowing 6 hits and picking up 2 base hits of his own. Earning him the player of the game.
